Mild January

Its been about two weeks since Ive gotten back out but Im getting an itchy trigger finger so its time to get out today. The temperatures have been in the upper 40s and lower 50s. Its great hiking weather but I miss all the snow and sandstone shots. I headed up to Kolob Terrace again because with the nice weather there are a lot of deer and elk wintering up there. There are some great places to get some shots of them and I always enjoy watching them. The big bucks come out in the late afternoon and spar. Its an amazing thing to see with the sandstone cliffs of Zion in the background. With the weather this nice I took a 4 mile hike into some of the lesser known redrock formations and got a few good pictures. At the end of the day I hiked back out to my truck and parked in a field clearing to watch the deer graze and spar. Another amazing day!
